The lake has numerous Himalayan trout, which come quite close to the shore. The do's and dont's for trekkers posted on the trail to Bevra say that angling for these fish is not allowed. A Wildlife Institute of India (WII) group trekked to Dodital a few years ago, and described their journey in the WII Newsletter of September, 1998. These protectors of the environment wrote, "Nevertheless, by midday we had caught 12 trout which provided a substantial amount of delicious fish curry for our lunch."
